Overwatch – My Top 5 Heroes

I’ve been playing Overwatch at least 2hrs a day and so far my stats are currently at roughly 49%-50% win rate. Master Overwatch is a great website where I can see all my stats without firing up the game. The featured image is my current stats which I’m really happy where it’s at. I’ve played a total of 9 competitive games so far and which I try to play at least one competitive game a day. Win or lose, I switch it up and play Quick Play the rest of the night.

Here’s my Overwatch stats: http://masteroverwatch.com/profile/pc/us/Enzovic-1463

#1) Pharah
mo_pharah
So far, it’s been fun playing Pharah since she’s a well-rounded offense hero. She has a unique evasion (flight), sniper vantage point, and anti-turret rockets. It requires a highly skilled player on the opposition side to bring me down as Pharah. Of course, she has her strengths and weaknesses, but the best thing about Pharah is her ability to snipe targets at long range. She’s the best counter to Torbjorn and Bastion, especially Torbjorn. Typically Torbjorn will just keep on repairing his turret, but since Pharah’s rockets have a large explosion, it can hit both Torbjorn and the turret. I hate snipers especially Widowmaker.

Strengths
– payload escorts in both attack and defense
– defending a point
– slow squishy target (i.e. Mercy, Junkrat)
Weakness
– king of the hill (i.e. Lijiang Tower)
– capturing a point (i.e. Hanamura)
– fast and sniper heroes (i.e. Genji, Tracer, Hanzo, Widowmaker)

#2 Mei
mo_mei
Mei is my second favorite hero since she’s the best at harassing the enemy and setting them up for Hanzo’s dragons or Reaper’s death dance. I play as anti-healer and anti-tank and she’s as well-rounded hero just like Pharah. I use the ice wall to block the sniper’s views and sneak behind them. I sometimes use the ice wall to give my team a safe way across. She’s really strong at defending the point and escorting the payload. She can snipe targets from a far distance and she has her own unique kind of evasion; Iceblock. The hero I hate the most when playing Mei is Zarya since Mei’s freezing gun gets cancelled by Zarya’s shield which in turn powers up her big gun.

Strengths
– payload escorts in both attack and defense
– attacking and defending a point
– king of the hill (i.e. Lijiang Tower)
– slow targets (i.e. Roadhog, Reinhart)
Weakness
– fast and sniper heroes (i.e. Genji, Tracer, Hanzo, Widowmaker)
– Zarya and Reaper

#3) Symmetra
mo_symmetra
Symmetra is my go to champion when there’s a Zarya (or D.Va) on the other team since her beam can bypass Zarya’s shield. Her energy orbs deal a lot of damage and cannot be blocked by energy shields (Zarya’s and Reinhart’s shield) — the orb just passes through them until it hit something solid. So while she can spread her turrets, she can cover a path with her slow energy orbs effectively forcing the advancing enemy to take a different route — typically towards my turrets. She’s not really good in maps with payload since it renders her turrets useless. The teleporter is a very weak ult and it needs some buffs. Her teleporter should automatically apply her shield with twice the strength for a short period of time. It should be indestructible but with short duration. This way, she can use her ult mid fight by dropping it anywhere. It will be a weaker version of Mercy’s ult, but at least it is worth it.

Strengths
– defending a point (i.e. Hanamura)
– tanks with anti-ballistic energy shields (i.e. Reinhart, Zarya)
– squishy targets for turrets (i.e Genji, Tracer)
Weakness
– payload escorts in both attack and defense
– hard hitter heroes (i.e. Reaper)
– explosive munitions (i.e. Pharah, Junkrat)

#4 Zarya
mo_zarya
Zarya is my favorite tank since she’s a well-rounded tank compare to other tanks. She has a short to mid range capabilities. She can shield anyone while pumping some plasma grenades. With a good healer, preferably Zenyatta, Zarya can push really hard before going down.

Strengths
– payload escorts in both attack and defense
– low but fast damage (i.e. Mei, Tracer, Bastion)
– squishy targets (i.e Genji, Tracer)
Weakness
– hard hitter heroes (i.e. Reaper)
– anti-shield hero (i.e. Symmetra)
– snipers

#5 Widowmaker
mo_widowmaker
This is actually a toss-up between Widowmaker and Hanzo. While I like her scope ability, she doesn’t have a very good tactical abilities. Hanzo can scout with dragon eye arrow while Widowmaker can only do that wit her ult. However, she’s more agile than Hanzo with her grappling hook. She can get away really easy once her position is compromised. Hanzon, on the other hand, is dead once an enemy got close.

Strengths
– anti-defense turrets, except Symmetra’s
– slow targets
Weakness
– hard hitter heroes (i.e. Reaper, Genji)
– shield hero (i.e. Reinhart)

That’ my top 5 heroes that I typically rotate to depending on the situation. However, I’ve been playing Junkrat and Mercy more often lately so I expect them to go up on my top 5…or perhaps I should do a top 10 instead.
